We were so happy with this hotel! The employees were incredibly kind and friendly, the atmosphere was cheerful, and the hotel itself was great. I adored the historic charm and appreciated the cleanliness of the place. My only negatives are that the water in the shower seemed to have a mind of its own. Sometimes it would get a bit chilly without me adjusting the temperature. Also, the makeup mirror did not work. :( Otherwise, it was a fantastic experience! We hope to go back again on our next trip. :)

Very pretty Hotel in a great location!!! Gives a Doris Day, Rocky Hudson type vibe. It is an old hotel!!! It doesn't have a hot tub, pool, smart TV, Commodes flush weird and we had to call for service to get our heat going in the room (they came quickly and fixed it ) It got down into the low 30's. Bathrooms were small but our room had 2 so that bashed it out a lil. There was a safe in the closet and an ice machine close by. No microwave, but a keurig coffee maker and a small fridge. Parking is in the city garage and it does cost! Vallet is available. There is no free breakfast but room service is available and free delicious coffee and fruit infused water, sometimes snacks like muffins or cookies are available in the lobby. And the option to reserve a table at the Swamp Fox which is another 5 star review. Loved it!!! Now that the negatives are out of the way let's talk why I gave this hotel 5 stars I already mentioned they came quickly to fix our heat. The coffee and water refreshments were delicious and location was great. Staff was super friendly!!!!! Southern hospitality at its finest! In the evening hours someone played classical piano in the lobby (I truly enjoyed this). Beds were VERY comfortable. Personally, probably one of the most comfortable beds away from home. The Francis Marion is a beautiful, fancy spa like scented place to stay in Charleston and a historical southern charm. I was greatly pleased and my favorite part was the prime location and glorious view!!! The color scheme and chandeliers added a nice touch as well.

An absolutely charming hotel located in the perfect area of Charleston. We loved our Thanksgiving weekend stay in a (the?) Francis Marion Suite. A well appointed space that still allows you to enjoy the fact that this is an historic hotel. All of the public areas remind you that this hotel has a rich history, and all of the staff, from Valet, to Front Desk, Concierge and Housekeeping were fantastic. Finally, this review simply isn't complete without a mention of the Thanksgiving Brunch that we enjoyed on Thursday afternoon. It was so delightful that we are considering a return visit for a Thanksgiving in the next year or two. The food was superb, with a delightful nod to Southern cuisine. The staff on hand to handle serving and busing were absolutely top notch as they were friendly, helpful and professional. I will mention that there was an issue with the television in our room experiencing reception issues so we could not watch the Macy's parade, but there was nothing that would materially detract from an overwhelmingly positive stay at The Francis Marion. We would recommend The Francis Marion without hesitation.

This hotel has a great location. It's centrally located and within walking distance to a lot of attractions. The room that I got was a bit cramped but it was a decent price compared with everything else around. I did get it during the week so I'm sure that played a part. I will say the valet service left a little something to be desired. There's no separate space for the valet line so if the spaces are occupied with guests checking in you kind of just have to hang out in the street and let cars go around you. I'm sure they move as quickly as they can but after waiting 15 minutes I ended up just parking in the adjacent city garage and carrying my bag to my room. I paid $40 for the parking from 5:00PM to 9:00AM the next day. (Side note: the bathroom is kind of small and the toilet does have a compact set up, but it does what it's suppose to. Just don't expect an extravagant space to spread out. I included a picture of the toilet, just in case you were curious. Also, the sink is on the left side. You can't really see the entire space but this little room is the entire bathroom area.)

I had a great stay at Francis Marion Hotel. The building and rooms were spotless. I was honestly shocked that there was no mold anywhere, especially because there was no fan in the bathroom — but everything was extremely well kept and very clean. My favorite part was the cookies they put out each day (even though the time changed each day ). The water was also delicious. Overall, it was a great stay and I loved the rooms.

The wow factor? Real eggs! Yes, I Googled it; there’s only a handful of hotels in Charleston that don’t serve up rehydrated powdered eggs for their expensive buffet breakfast. The Bennett down the street there is one; the Francis Marion is another. Yes, $15 gets you two eggs done your way, for me it’s over easy, and a magnificent bottomless buffet, the likes of which I haven’t seen since Brazil or Turkey. If you’re like me you’ll love the peaceful period music or live piano player. The room? Spacious, quiet, well equipped with a small refrigerator and a Keurig, and incredibly comfortable beds. Room service prompt and generous. Friendly staff. Safe environment. Good WiFi for work and TV selection for sports. You already know about the great location, right?

Stayed here for a wedding. It’s an old building with a lot of character, whether that’s a feature depends on your preference. The restaurant needs some love. There is a very reasonably priced shuttle service to the airport if you ask the front desk. It cost us less than a ride share and was a better service.

Outstanding for the price! I stayed two nights to stage at the ordinary and I couldn't have nailed a better place to stay! The bed was super comfortable, outstanding location and service. I'll definitely be back highly advised
